“And behold I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
Cardinal Seán O’Malley has announced a Year of the Eucharist to bolster the faith of those who already believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and to encourage those who struggle with this belief. Over the course of the next year, the Cardinal invites all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Boston to learn more about the Eucharist and to spend more time before the Eucharistic Lord, asking Him to reveal Himself to you.
Lord Jesus, Who Promised to remain with us always, when information overwhelms us and fear overtakes us, speak to us again those comforting words, "Peace be with You." Though we cannot be physically close to others, give us the ability and courage to love as well as we can, since "perfect love casts out all fear." Direct your caring gaze on doctors and nurses, researchers, and safety personnel. Come to strengthen the sick, the vulnerable, and comfort those who are grief stricken. And when the pandemic has passed, and this frightening crisis is resolve, teach us to know You more certainly as our dearest Friend and our only Hope. You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever, Amen.
God our Father,
as we have celebrated today the mystery of the Lord’s resurrection,
grant our humble prayer:
free us from all harm
that we may sleep in peace
and rise in joy to sing your praise.
Through Christ our Lord,
Let us then bear in mind that as we celebrate our sacred liturgies, our sacraments and our special prayers, Christ, the Source of all Light, shall come to us to be ever present to strengthen us, instruct us, inspire us and give us hope that His Light will never burn out as long as we live in faith without a shadow of doubt that darkness will ever defeat us.
